Ghost Whisperer is an Emmy Award nominated American television drama-fantasy-thriller that premiered on CBS on the 23rd of September 2005. The show was developed by Spiritual Medium James Van Praagh and created by John Gray. The story was about the young and beautiful newly married Melinda Gordon portrayed by Jennifer Love Hewitt who moved in a small town with her husband Jim Clancy portrayed by David Conrad to have a peaceful and simple life together. But Melinda who have the ability to see and communicate with the spirit of the dead people (the one who have not crossed over because they have unfinished business with the living) uses her gift to relay significant messages and important information to their family and friends, but sometimes it make her confused of what the message is and often this leads her to questions and skepticism.

As the story goes on Melinda together with her bestfriend and business partner Andrea Marino portrayed by Aisha Tyler will open a small antique shop on that town and later on the story that would carry over to the second season Andrea will be killed in a plane crash which will be swayed by Romano portrayed by John Walcott to stay earthbound a negative entity in a black hat, the one who attempted to do the exact opposite of Melinda and gather earthbound souls and bring them to the Dark Side. He was an evil cult leader in Spain, who committed suicide along with 115 followers. The energy of the mass suicide made him powerful and strong, and he went to the Dark Side and is Melinda's archenemy. He started to trick souls to go with him, by making them refuse to "cross over" into The Light.

The story climaxed in the season finale when a plane crashed in Grandview, and Melinda and Romano both attempted to sway the souls to the Light, and staying on earth, respectively. There are two lights that will come on the spirits path the light identified as heaven is invisible to viewers and shown only a few times such as in episodes The Vanishing, The One, Giving up the Ghost and The Gathering. Not all spirits cross over into the Light. Some cross over to the Dark Side. The Dark Side is identified with Hell. Spirits who are trapped in this limbo are exposed to hate and anger. Romano last appeared in episode one of season two, when he was unsuccessful in trying to possess Andrea's soul. However, in the middle of season two, Melinda seems to foreshadow the come-back of Romano, when Delia Banks tries on a black hat which resembled Romano's.
